Hello again! It has been a busy few weeks, trying to get back into the swing of things after my week of leave in Indiana. A couple of weeks ago, I made it out Myriad Games in Manchester to play some games, meeting up with Craig from the D6 Generation podcast and a few of the guys from his group. Last weekend we had a good time; Gwen and I met up with some friends at The Thirsty Moose to watch the Colts lose to the Patriots (Deflate-gate! Boo!). Much tasty beer and food was had!

This past week was pretty hectic; in addition to having two duty days, Gwen and I had a day of medical appointments in Boston at Brigham and Women’s hospital. As Gwen mentioned on Facebook recently, we are expecting our first children, a set of identical twins, in July. Brigham and Women’s hospital has a great staff of world-class doctors that specialize in women who have the kind of congenital heart issues Gwen has, which is why we were there. As of now, the plan is to get her pre-natal care and deliver there.

Which brings me to the main thing I wanted to talk about in this post; as we approach the end of January, I thought it would be a good idea to talk about how the year is set to go for Gwen and me. Of course there are a lot of things that are uncertain, but here is what I know:

1. XO Screening (May): This is my next major career milestone. If I don’t screen for XO, my career path will definitely change. I will either end up in a support billet for the subforce, or I will latteraly transfer to another community. My chances of screening are good, but this will no doubt be a bit of a nervous time for me!

2. The Twins Arrive (July): Gwen’s due date is around 30 July, but it may be a bit earlier than that as twins tend to come early. This will be the biggest change of all, but Gwen and I are very excited to take this next step in our lives by bringing two new ones into it!

3. The End of My Department Head Tour (August-September): The exact timing is up in the air, but there is no doubt that I will be relieved as the Navigator of the SCRANTON at some point around this time. This will of course mean that I will be getting a new assignment, to where it is impossible to tell. However, this brings me to my next Big Change:

4. Moving (September?): Without a doubt, Gwen and I will be moving this year. Our new place of residence will of course depend on the assignment I receive for my next tour of duty. However, since there are no suitable assignments here on the Shipyard, I can safely assume that I will be shipped off to somewhere else for my next tour.

So, lots of upheavals ahead! I have to say I am honestly looking forward to it. I think 2015 is going to be quite a grand adventure, and unlike some of my grand adventures, I can atleast count on being with Gwen and facing them together.
